Governor’s Commission “Left-Leaning”
2009 at 11:31 pm | posted by Rep. Craig Frank 7 comments
This evening, Cathy Mckitrick from the Salt Lake Tribune posted this article on the continuing saga of Campaign Finance Reform. It’s true that my personal preference is TOTAL DISCLOSURE. You Take It…You Report It! No contribution limits. And, term limits are at the Ballot Box.
Caveat: I have been ranked as one of the most conservative legislators in the State of Utah (see Mirror, Mirror on the Wall). Anything left of me…is left leaning. Also, I consider the vote on the original Dryer Proposal the benchmark of right and left-leaning positions. I voted against the Dryer Proposal. The Dryer Proposal passed the Commission 10-7. For this reason, I made the assertion that the Commission is “left-leaning.”

Rep. Frank I respectfully disagree with your use of the term “left leaning”. What is left of you can also be a moderate centrist position that takes into account all of the facts and variables and arrives at an educated and well reasoned position.
To state proudly that others not as conservative as you “left leaning” shows what a narrow ideological corner you have painted yourself into and how inflexible, biased, and rigid your ideas really are. To be in either extreme whether on the right or the left represents discounting entirely the beliefs and opinions of the other side. This “I am completely right and they are completely wrong” dichotomous—all or nothing thinking does not lend it self to reason, negotiation, or give and take problem solving.
There is nothing wrong with leaning to the right or left, but when one leans so far in one direction that they hit a wall and can only move in the other direction they refuse to go, then one could say that they are stuck.

Wouldn’t it have just been easier to say:
“Yeah, I should really learn to think before I speak…”
Just sayin.’

warchol sums it up the best – ” You couldn’t even see Herbert’s lips moving when Frank said:
“I believe that full reporting should happen without limits and people should decide at the ballot box.” “

Why is it that the left is offended when they are called left?
I wear my conservative badge proudly.
Full disclosure is the answer then let the voters decide.
You still have my vote Rep Frank.

Who says that’s what we’re offended by?
What is offensive to me is elected officials saying moronic things and passing that off as leadership.
Why is the right so easily satisfied?

JBT seems to be falling all over himself to suggest that he’s a “moderate centrist.”
Everyone who believes that, please stand on your head.

And anyone who agrees with JJL9 please SIT on your head. . . . oh wait, you already are. Sorry ’bout that.
