  1. Taxpayer Says:

It’s nice to see that Charter Schools are a bi-partisan effort within the Public school system.

Charters are a great choice, meeting the needs of many students. They are underfunded and still do well.

Also nice to hear Obama recognize that bad teachers need to go, good teachers take a bad rap from the lazy ones. Most teachers sacrifice for their students on a regular basis, I’m sure they’d like to see bad teachers gone too.

  2. Reach Upward Says:

My three youngest children attended a charter school this year. This is the first year of operation for this school.

It’s not perfect. There are drawbacks. They can’t walk to school like the used to. They develop friends and work on projects with students that sometimes live 20 or 30 miles away. There are still students that act up. (Sometimes they’re my own children!) But overall we’re more pleased with our children’s educational outcomes.

The regular public schools in our area are not bad schools. But the different approach offered at our children’s charter school seems to work better.
