The annual “report card” is out from the Utah Chapter of the Sierra Club.  How did I do?  Find out by linking to the Sierra Club’s evaluation.

Out of 75 House members, 14 (or 18.6%) recieved a score of 25% or less (including yours truely).  Only one member of the House recieved a score of 0%…Rep. Eric Hutchings.  100% ers were: Black, Chavez-Houck, Cosgrove, Johnson, Seegmiller, Seelig, and Wiley.

The Utah County Republican Party’s Platform on the Environment states:

“There must be a balance between the economic benefits of growth and the need for clean air, clean water and a healthy environment.  We are stewards of the earth, and we should leave our posterity an earth in better condition then we started with.  Market forces should be considered when managing environmental issues.”

Lincoln’s Conversion to Christianity

2009 at 12:14 am  |  posted by Rep. Craig Frank 0 comments

Lincoln never formally joined a church. He did begin attending the Presbyterian church in Springfield after his son Edward died. The church’s pastor, Robert Smith, had befriended and consoled the bereft parents. Lincoln, who was a student of the Bible and the teachings of Jesus, did not, however, embrace the theology of salvation.

Yet when he saw the thousands of graves at Gettysburg, he had a spiritual awakening. As Lincoln later said: “When I left Springfield I asked people to pray for me. I was not a Christian. When I buried my son, the severest trial of my life in 1862, I was not a Christian. But when I went to Gettysburg and saw the graves of thousands of soldiers, I then and there consecrated myself to Christ.”
