As the newest member of the Governor’s Commission on Strengthening Utah’s Democracy, I was interested to see in the news this morning that Governor Huntsman has backed away from two areas of focus, redistricting and ethics.  Clearly this decision to focus on the remaining agenda items, and not to delve into legislative powers and authority, is appropriate and reinforces the importance of the separation of powers found in the Utah State Constitution.
