    Congratulations on the chairmanship!

I’m curious, what is the meaning of the A, B, and C “Block” designations for the standing committees?

  2. Rep. Craig Frank Says:

Thanks for the updates. For House and Senate Standing Committees, the “block” designation refers to committees that meet during the same time period. For example, all “A” committees meet during the same morning or afternoon time period… the “B’s” at the same time…etc. Committees meet more frequently during the first part of the General Legislative Session and tend to “taper-off” as the session progresses. Traditionally, scheduling for committees will be something like this: Monday a.m. “A” and Monday p.m. “B”; Tuesday a.m. “C” and Tuesday p.m. “A”; Wednesday a.m. “B” and Wednesday p.m. “C”…etc., etc… (remember that leadership actually sets the times and days for all committee meetings).

Chamber floor time, sub-appropriations committees, and executive appropriations meetings are also worked into this schedule.
