I voted for Hughes, but he’s been a real embarrassment as a representative. I’m glad he was not charged, because I don’t think he’s a bad man, but even his presence on the news is cocky and arrogant posturing. I won’t be voting for him again.

Rep. Hughes now calls the ethics charge “bogus,” but he only escaped censure because the Republican members of the Ethics Committee voted lockstep to dismiss every count. Apparently bribery is OK under the existing Code of Official Conduct, at least according to the GOP.
Hughes was found guilty of “conduct…unbecoming a Member of the Utah House of Representatives.”

May Rep. Hughes and other members of the Conservative Caucus receive a November surprise as well. . .retirement.

Oh, poor bitter, bitter Barbara…why so bitter?

Sorry you interrupt my comments so poorly. Not bitter in the least. Just hopeful. Extremely hopeful.

Barbara, I’ve read your comments and to say you are bitter about the conservative caucus and republican leadership in this state would be an understatement. If you had your wish and the democrats ruled this state like let’s say; California, we would kiss our budget surplus, best managed state status goodbye. Oh yeah, we’d also be lobbying Washington D.C. to throw an economic rescue package our way. I guess for those of us that hate success it would make sense for the conservative caucus to retire.
I would like to thank Rep. Frank and the conservative legislators of this state for making this the best managed state in the nation and creating a business friendly state so I can enjoy my life as an American citizen.
