Who’s Packin’ On The Hill?

HARDWARE IN THE HOUSE…
At any given point in time, there are six handguns on the House floor (that we know of). JAZZ BEAR…BEWARE!
H&K, Sig Sauer, Glock, S&W…everyone has their favorite weapon of choice…most are carrying .40 caliber with Federalist hollow-points–outstanding ballistics!
Nearly 40% of the current legislature has taken a CWP (Concealed Weapons Permit) class and a good portion of those have applied for their CWP. There are over 80,000 CWP holders in Utah according to BCI.
The Second Amendment and Gun Rights are always hot topics–this year’s General Session is no exception.

You got to tell us who these great citizens are!

Representative Frank,
This is only one of MANY reasons that I am proud to have you as my representative! I sincerely appreciate the work that you do to protect our rights to bear arms in Utah! This is one of the most important issues to me, as I feel that many other issues ride upon this fundamental right being protected.
Excellent photos, and its great to know that some of our leaders are exercising this right as well as us “oridinary” folk!
Again, please keep up the great work, and know that you have much support!

That is awesome. Could someone please explain the Jazz Bear reference?
February 6th, 2007 at 4:16 pm
Sorry. I guess you had to be there.
The Jazz Bear visited the House chambers one evening during the 2005 Session. Unfortunately, the Bear came in the back door with his confetti “gun” blazin’ during evening floor debate time. And, much to the excitement and potential fatal nature of that particular floor environment–under those circumstances– was nearly “put down” by an unnamed Representative who was packing that evening, crouched down behind his desk.
The story in a nutshell.

What the heck are Federalist hollow points? You say that have great ballistics. Where can I see those ballistics?
Great to have so many of my elected officials packing like me!

Sorry…trying to be “cute” saying Federalist.
The Federal Ammunition Company can be found at this link:

Ballistics can be searched by any number of weapons and bullet types.

You people are pathetic. Forty-eight hours after five innocent people were gunned down in Trolley Square and you’re engaging in a locker-room towel-snapping session about gun rights and legislators packing pistols.
Gosh, not only did you neglect to tell us who specifically is carrying, but you didn’t tell us whose gun is biggest!
I’m not interested in a debate about whether easy access to weapons and ammo were at the heart of the Trolley massacre.
I’m calling for a little decorum and perhaps a lock on your testosterone levels at least until these five victims are buried.
Shame on you.

Sorry Holley…But the post on this Blog occured 10 days before the tragedy at Trolley Square.

Mullen is famous for her emotional logic-free comments, and she doesn’t disappoint here.
Mullen’s law: do not mention guns on your blog one month BEFORE or after a shooting. OK, Holly, please give us one month warning before the next shooting.
And why do all of these anti-gun folks always have to make references to the size of a man’s unit? It sounds like THEY are the ones with the Freudian obsession, not the gun owners.

Btw, I noticed Mullen’s blog doesn’t allow anonymous or unregistered comments. Rep. Frank’s does.
I am glad that Mullen left the Tribune and will now fade into obscurity. The Tribune is a s(t)inking ship anyway.

I may not be big on gun nuts, but I share your puzzlement at Mullen’s attack. I suppose she might have missed the date of your post, although it’s right there at the top, and it was listed on bloghive when it went up. It’s weird.

Locker room towel snapping session? Where the hell did this chick come from?
I had a teacher in high school that would automatically give papers an “F” if someone tried to be funny or creative and ended sounding stoopid.
Mullen is the most sanctimonious person in Utah, and that’s quite an accomplishment.

Rocky Anderson, in his normal crude attitude, stated that the violence at Trolley was because of the proliferation of guns in our society. That is irresponsible, idealogical, and ignorantly naive. Mayor, guns still do not kill. Stupid idiots with illegal guns kill. You, mayor would rather see the criminal go free and incarcerate the inanimate tool of the misdeed. Gun laws only restrict law abiding citizens. In fact, all laws only work to keep the law abiding as law abiding!
There are more than 20,000 gun laws in the U.S. The Trolley shooter ignored these laws and in fact was not legally able to possess the handgun at all.
For those who would criticize Concealed Weapon Permit Holders, please consider the following thought——-”We will never know what would have or could have been done to stop or slow the carnage at Columbine there had been one or more permit holders at the school when Harris and Klebold went on their rampage. But we do know with absolute certainty what happens when there is not.”
Thankfully, it just so happened a person with a concealed weapon was at Trolley Square and he just happened to be a peace officer. What if he hadn’t been there? The carnage took less than three minutes. 99% of shootings are over with in less than three seconds.
Trolley has a “no weapons” policy. How many people left their weapons at home or in their vehicles because of the mall rule? As great as our officers are, they cannot be everywhere and as such, I will be responsible for my own primary protection. I am the first responder. Law enforcement is normally the second responder.
Since the shooting, I have had numerous people at the Capitol ask about how to acquire a permit. No one has said anything negative. The only place I’ve seen negativity is in the press who loves to pander to the Anti-gun groups. But oddly, even press members have been relatively positive with me on the gun issue. Maybe because I have offered to hold a media class on concealed weapons? Perhaps.
